Qualcomm Launches X85 5G Modem to Power Next-Gen Connectivity

Qualcomm has announced its newest advancement in 5G connectivity, the Qualcomm X85 5G Modem-RF. This eighth-generation 5G modem-to-antenna solution is intended to drive the upcoming wave of connected experiences, ranging from ultra-fast downloads and uninterrupted streaming to improved AI applications and longer battery life.
The X85 features cutting-edge 5G Advanced technology, guaranteeing unmatched speeds and dependability for high-end Android smartphones. It additionally accommodates a diverse variety of devices, such as PCs, fixed wireless access points, automotive applications, XR, and more.
“Qualcomm X85, the world’s most advanced modem-to-antenna system, is set to provide the best 5G experiences. For smartphones, it enables levels of speeds, power efficiency, and reliability that will only be available on premium Android devices,” said Durga Malladi, senior vice president and general manager, of technology planning and edge solutions, at Qualcomm Technologies.
This AI-enhanced fifth-generation 5G connectivity system utilizes on-device AI to enhance performance and user experiences. Qualcomm is working alongside industry partners, such as carriers and infrastructure suppliers, to speed up the commercialization of the X85's features.
Alongside the X85, Qualcomm introduced the X82 5G Modem-RF, designed for mainstream adoption of mobile broadband applications. Customers are currently sampling both the X85 and X82, with an anticipated launch in commercial devices in the latter half of 2025.
