HP has launched the first printers in the world that can help combat quantum computer hacking threats. Quantum computers are a serious cybersecurity challenge for many organizations, especially those with sensitive data. HP made this announcement at its Amplify 2025 conference.
During the event, the company shared innovations focusing on how printers work in the future and their security features. To make printing more secured, the HP LaserJet Enterprise 8000 Series printers have hardware-level security which is suited for highly regulated sectors. The devices have quantum-resistant cryptography, which allows them to be put in Zero Trust architectures, able to fight off quantum threats of the future.
The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP 8801, Mono MFP 8601 and LaserJet Pro Mono SFP 8501 come with several innovations. Advanced ASIC chips with quantum-resistant cryptography help in a secure digital signature verification process that protects firmware. HP is integrating with Zero Trust Print Architecture which will help organizations use these devices with secure networks.
HP cautions that without quantum resilience, a laser printer’s firmware could be attacked by a quantum computer, leading to unauthorized access and malicious firmware updates. While HP already introduced the first business PCs with quantum-secure firmware protection earlier.
To help document management, HP introduced an AI-powered document sharing capability at the conference. This feature summarizes scanned documents and automatically drafts emails. The guided redaction tool keeps your data safe without using the cloud.
HP has also launched a compact all-in-one printer that can optimize workflows by handling both rigid and flexible media. Known as HP Latex R530, this device is designed for small and medium-sized print shops.
